Heidelberg, Germany

The University of Maryland's European Division is headquartered in Heidelberg — at Im Bosseldorn 30, to be precies,— and I visited the city many times throughout the '80s, then returned in 2001, twice, for several days of inprocessing before my summer term in Italy and several days of outprocessing right before returning to the US.

The Altstadt — Old Town — is lovely and lively, its long pedestrian main drag lined with chic shops and gemütlich bars and restaurants. I took the photo from the grounds of the castle, high on a hill overlooking the Altstadt.
