In July of 1993, Becca and I spent a weekend at Single Parent Family Camp, sponsored by the Ohio State University Extension and held at 4-H Camp Palmer in western Ohio. The following year, we were selected as a "typical" SPFC family and featured in the OSU Extension's annual report.

That's us at the bottom left. The idea was that the photos were supposed to look like they were taken at camp. In fact, though, OSU sent a photographer up to Cleveland, and the pictures were taken in the Rocky River Reservation, 10 minutes from our Lakewood apartment.

An assortment of brochures were tucked into a pocket in the inside front cover of the annual report. One of them also had us on the cover.

We returned to Camp Palmer every summer for the next four years; in 1996, we served on the planning committee. Unfortunately, budget cuts led to the program's being axed in '97. We still miss those lazy, fun-filled annual weekends of camp....
