My nephew Jacob was bar mitzvahed in Sacramento, CA, on October 6, and Becca and I flew out for the weekend. Lots of aunts, uncles and cousins were there, and Jacob did a terrific job — after which 300 people in the synagogue pelted him with eight pounds of Sun-Kist Fruit Gums (which I'd picked up at the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield the day before).
