"The Land of Entrapment"

This is the ninth story in which my Texas PI Helmut Erhard appears. (The first seven were "The Yellow Rose of Texas," "The Stopwatch of Death," "The Great Filling Station Holdup," "KLDI," "The Vampire Shift," "Red Roses For a Blue Lady," and "Murder on the North Pole Express." Helmut also makes a cameo appearance in "Woulda Coulda Shoulda," although that's not really his story.)

In "The Land of Entrapment," he learns that he has an older half-sister whose existence takes him completely by surprise, and he travels to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to help her deal with a stalker.

The story appears in an anthology titled Agatha and Derringer Get Cozy, edited by Gay Toltl Kinman and Andrew McAleer and published by Down and Out Books in November 2024. It was my 125th published story.

As always in my Helmut series, it features a truly massive Easter egg, which continues to fly completely under the radar....
